As a result of Al-Nahda’s fieldwork and its deep understanding of local and global economic and social policies and their impact on women, the association continually leads and participates in important advocacy initiatives that support women.
To further highlight Al-Nahda’s advocacy efforts and related activities, the association held—alongside its leadership of the Women 20 (W20) Engagement Group—the second Nahda Council Webinar, titled “Our Work in Advocacy.”
The session began with an opening remark by Ms. Rasha Alturki, CEO of Al-Nahda, followed by a speech from HRH Princess Modhi bint Khalid, Chairwoman of Al-Nahda, in which she explained why the organization chose to focus on advocacy.
Next, Ms. Salma Al-Rashed, Director of Advocacy and W20 Sherpa, presented—on behalf of Dr. Thoraya Obaid, W20 Chair—a summary of Al-Nahda’s role as the lead organization of the Women 20.
The webinar concluded with a virtual panel discussion featuring supporters of the W20, moderated by Ms. Salma Al-Rashed.
The session included participation from:
-
Representing Aramco: Mr. Amro Al-Mubarak, Administrative Assistant to the VP of Human Resources
-
From KPMG: Ms. Khulood Mousa, Partner & Head of Inclusion and Diversity Program
-
From the Industrial Fund: Mr. Suleiman Al-Zughaibi, Deputy CEO for Corporate Services
-
From Banque Saudi Fransi: Mr. Thamer Yousef, Chief Operating Officer
