Al-Nahda Proudly Celebrates 5 Women Who Achieved Remarkable Success in 2017

Al-Nahda is proud of many Saudi women and women across the Arab world who have achieved their dreams and made their mark in society. Here are some of the women who made us proud in 2017.

Note: This list is not in any particular order; we equally celebrate all the women mentioned.

 

1- Reem Al-Attas – Innovative Inventor

Reem Al-Attas invented a traffic-safety helmet to ensure the safety of cyclists. In 2017, she won first place in the Shark Tank competition, which helped her secure funding to further develop her invention.

2 - Dr. Fadila Al-Awami

Dr. Fadila Al-Awami became the first Saudi and Gulf woman to earn an American fellowship in Addiction Medicine through her determination and perseverance. This highly specialized field is rare in the region, despite the pressing need in the Arab world.

 3 -Dr. Lubna Al-Ansari

In 2017, Dr. Lubna Al-Ansari was appointed as an Assistant Director-General in the Executive Team of the World Health Organization.

4 - Najood Al-Mughir – Entrepreneur

Najood Al-Mughir founded a unique factory producing lightweight volcanic bricks, designed to be heat- and sound-insulating as well as moisture-resistant.

5 - Hind Al-Zahid

Hind Al-Zahid became the first Saudi woman to join the Board of Directors of airports in Dammam, achieving this milestone in 2017.
